Paul Corkum Receives Herzberg Medal for Science and Engineering

Posted March 18, 2009

One of the great things about the ITAC community is that it brings together the very best of our nation’s top leaders in business and in science.  For example last fall our Executive Forum on Microelectronics featured a superb presentation on nanotechnology from Dr. Paul Corkum of the University of Ottawa.  He did a fine job of helping microelectronics executives understand the emerging opportunities from his field of study.  Last night Prime Minister Stephen Harper presented Dr. Corkum with the Gerhard Herzberg Canada Gold Medal for Science and Engineering…the highest honour our country bestows upon research scientists.  Congratulations Paul!
If you’re hungry for more opportunities to stretch your science horizons be sure to check out our ITAC GSA Microelectronics Forum and the next Board of Governors’ Dinner which will feature a presentation on quantum computing by RIM founder and co-CEO Mike Lazaridis and Ray Laflamme the Director of the Institute for Quantum Computing.  Dr. Arthur Carty will also be contributing “Small World; Large Impact”, his view of the emerging applications of nanotechnology in modern life.
