For the past three years, Professor Ferworn of Ryerson University has worked with the Provincial Emergency Response Team (PERT) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to enhance the performance of Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) dogs in finding people trapped in the debris and rubble of buildings that have suffered a structural collapse.
