“Just about every recent report on healthcare reform in Canada has cited the application of modern technology as a key enabler to the sustainability of our treasured healthcare system,” says Dave Wattling, Founding Chair of ITAC Health.“Last night we saw numerous examples of such successful application. It is clear to me that the Canadian ICT industry is applying its extensive and proven experience from other sectors to the benefit of healthcare.”

“The gala is a great opportunity to acknowledge leaders in the health informatics field,” says Linda Miller, COACH President. “The gala also provides the opportunity to communicate and leverage best practices which will lead to improvements in patient safety, access and effectiveness of the health system. As President of COACH, I am immensely proud of all of the award recipients and nominees, as well as all the people who took the time to prepare nominations. Their combined contribution demonstrates the leadership that exists in the health informatics community all across Canada. Well done!”

Winners of the Canadian Society of Telehealth (CST) awards, the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) Pinnacle Awards, the Canada Health Infoway Standards Collaborative Peer Award and the MacNaught-Taillon Leadership Award, all presented prior to the gala, were also recognized at CHIA 2008.
